Physician Bio

Dr. Chad Lieber received his Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from Vanderbilt University. He performed his post-doctoral research at the Center for Biophotonics Science and Technology (CBST) at the University of California, Davis. He worked on device development with Johnson & Johnson before arriving at CHOC Children's as a scientist in the CHOC Research Institute.

Dr. Lieber has dedicated much of his career to investigating new ways to use light in order to eliminate invasive means of diagnosis for a number of different conditions. Dr. Lieber is currently working with his colleagues on ways to use light to look at the feeding tolerances of premature infants in order to find out when they are ready to eat. Dr. Lieber and his colleagues are also investigating ways to use light for early and accurate cancer detection.
