With over 20 years of experience treating pediatric pulmonary conditions, Dr. Nickerson's research interests include new therapies for cystic fibrosis, inhaled antibiotics, noninvasive measurements of gas exchange, asthma, and chronic lung disease of prematurity. Dr. Nickerson has special expertise in treating cystic fibrosis and providing fiberoptic bronchoscopy. He has a strong interest in working with children with tracheostomies, preschool asthma, and sleep problems.
An internationally-recognized expert in pediatric pulmonology, Dr. Nickerson has published in numerous journals including the New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of Pediatrics, Pediatrics, American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Chest and the Journal of Applied Physiology. He was on the founding editorial board of Pediatric Pulmonology. He has been an invited speaker at numerous conferences and symposiums nationally and internationally.
Dedicated to clinical excellence, Dr. Nickerson is board certified in pediatrics, pediatric pulmonology, and neonatal perinatal medicine. Prior to joining CHOC Children’s, Dr. Nickerson attended medical school at the University of California, Los Angeles. He completed both his residency and internship through the University of Arizona in Tucson and served his fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.
Recognized for his leadership and expertise, Dr. Nickerson is consistently voted as one of Orange County’s Top Doctors by the Orange County Medical Association.
