On the forefront of pediatric neurosurgery research for more than 20 years, Dr. Loudon has conducted studies investigating molecular characterization and novel therapeutic approaches for central nervous system malignancy, cancer stem cell biology and regenerative medicine.
A respected expert in pediatric neurosurgery, Dr. Loudon’s clinical focus is in brain tumors, and is an integral member of the brain tumor program at CHOC Children’s Neuroscience Institute and the Hyundai Cancer Institute at CHOC Children’s. As part of the CHOC concussion team, Dr. Loudon is conducting clinical research into the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric concussion and head injury. He also has a patent pending on novel ex vivo three-dimensional culture system for stem cell research.
Dedicated to clinical excellence, Dr. Loudon is board certified in neurosurgery. He attended medical school at the University of Texas at Houston and received his Ph. D. in cancer biology from University of Texas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Loudon performed his pediatric neurosurgical residency at Medical College of Virginia and his post-doctoral fellowship at Massey Cancer Institute/Medical College of Virginia. He served his pediatric neurosurgery fellowship at University of Pennsylvania/Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
